This policy sets out how Whisky Globetrotters manages the lawful dispatch of alcohol prizes to confirmed winners. Although we do not sell alcohol, all prize deliveries must comply with the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, including age verification and delivery requirements.
Courier Service
All alcohol prizes are dispatched using Parcelforce’s Age Verification (Age Check) service. Parcelforce will only hand over a parcel when the recipient presents valid photographic identification proving they are 18 or over.
Accepted forms of ID include:
- Passport
- UK or EU driving licence
- PASS-accredited cards (Young Scot, CitizenCard, etc.)
If suitable ID is not provided, the courier will return the parcel to the depot and it will ultimately be returned to the sender.
Hours of Delivery
Parcelforce will only attempt delivery between 6am and midnight, in line with Section 120 of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.
Age Verification Procedures
At the point of entry/win confirmation
Prize winners must confirm they are aged 18+ before their prize is dispatched. A date of birth is collected as part of the mandatory winner verification process, and Challenge 25 messaging is used to reinforce age-related requirements.
At the point of dispatch
All prize dispatches are checked by trained staff. Any concerns or suspicious details will result in additional verification or refusal to dispatch until checks are complete.
At the point of delivery
Parcelforce’s Age Check service requires:
- ID verification at the door
- A signature or approved ID scan
- No neighbour deliveries
- No “safe place” options
If age cannot be verified, the delivery will not be completed.
Packaging
All alcohol prizes are securely packed in protective materials and clearly labelled to indicate that Age Verification on Delivery is required.
Daybook (Section 119 Compliance)
A delivery Daybook is maintained on the licensed premises, recording:
Staff member responsible for processing the dispatch
Date and time the prize dispatch was arranged
Winner’s name and delivery address
Description and quantity of alcohol
Assigned value
Method of fulfilment
Challenge 25 Policy
Challenge 25 applies to all alcohol prize dispatches. Parcelforce drivers must request approved ID from anyone who appears under 25. If ID is refused, unavailable, or unacceptable, the delivery will not proceed. Internal staff involved in dispatch processes are trained to follow refusal and escalation procedures.
Prevention of Under-18 Deliveries
The following measures ensure prizes are never delivered to anyone under 18:
Staff trained in compliance and refusal protocols
Mandatory age confirmation and date of birth collection during winner verification
No dispatch without internal checks
Compulsory ID verification on delivery
No “safe place” or neighbour deliveries
Parcelforce Age Check used for every alcohol prize
Summary
These procedures ensure full compliance with the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005—particularly Sections 119 and 120—alongside Challenge 25 and age verification requirements. They guarantee that all alcohol prizes are dispatched safely, securely, and only to eligible adults.
