While Bunnahabhain is renowned for producing elegant unpeated single malts, Bunnahabhain Mòine explores the distillery’s peated side without losing its signature smoothness. Meaning “peat” in Scottish Gaelic, Mòine delivers a wonderfully balanced combination of gentle smoke, sweet malt and coastal character, making it an outstanding whisky for both seasoned Islay enthusiasts and those discovering peated whisky for the first time.

Whisky Globetrotter sTip

Whisky Globetrotters® Tip: We genuinely think this is one of the most enjoyable peated whiskies available. The smoke never overwhelms the palate, allowing the sweet fruit, vanilla and maritime notes to shine through. If you’re looking for an approachable Islay whisky, this comes highly recommended by Whisky Globetrotters.

Crafted in the Heart of Islay

Produced at the famous Bunnahabhain Distillery on Islay’s rugged north-east coast, Mòine is distilled using peated malted barley before maturing in carefully selected oak casks. The result is a whisky that perfectly balances earthy peat smoke with rich sweetness, gentle spice and the distinctive maritime influence that makes Islay whiskies so admired around the world.

Rich, Smoky & Wonderfully Balanced

  • Nose: Gentle peat smoke, sea breeze, vanilla, honey, orchard fruits, toasted oak and subtle citrus.
  • Palate: Creamy vanilla, sweet malt, caramel, ripe apples, warming pepper, earthy smoke and soft coastal salinity.
  • Finish: Long, warming and elegant with lingering peat smoke, sweet spice and a delicate maritime freshness.

Rather than delivering an aggressive smoky punch, Bunnahabhain Mòine focuses on balance and complexity, making it an excellent introduction to peated Islay whisky while still satisfying experienced whisky drinkers.

Classic Islay Character with Bunnahabhain Elegance

Bottled at 46.3% ABV and non-chill filtered, Bunnahabhain Mòine retains its natural body and flavour, allowing every dram to showcase the distillery’s craftsmanship. Its combination of smoke, sweetness and coastal freshness makes it equally enjoyable neat or with a few drops of water.
