The Glen Scotia 12 Year Old Gift Set
Glen Scotia 12 Year Old sits at the heart of the distillery’s core range and is designed to showcase the distinctive character of Campbeltown whisky.
Matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon barrels, this 12 Year Old combines Glen Scotia’s maritime character with tropical fruit, citrus, caramelised sweetness, vanilla and warming spice.
It is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and presented at natural colour.
The gift set makes the prize even more special, pairing the bottle with two premium Glen Scotia branded glasses – ideal for sharing a Campbeltown dram.
100% First-Fill Bourbon Cask Maturation
Unlike many whiskies that combine several different cask types, Glen Scotia 12 Year Old is matured entirely in first-fill bourbon barrels.
These casks help build the whisky’s distinctive layers of honeyed vanilla, caramelised sugar, tropical fruit and toasted oak, while Glen Scotia’s spirit retains the coastal and maritime character for which the distillery is known.
Long fermentation and careful distillation contribute further fruitiness, including notes of tangy citrus and vibrant pineapple.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Fresh sea air opens the whisky, followed by honeyed vanilla and hints of exotic tropical fruit.
Palate
Layers of caramelised sugar, tangy citrus and vibrant pineapple develop across the palate, balanced by subtle toasted oak and Glen Scotia’s distinctive maritime character.
Finish
Long and warming, with gentle cinnamon and nutmeg spice lingering on the finish.
Glen Scotia – Campbeltown Since 1832
Glen Scotia Distillery was founded in 1832, originally under the name Scotia Distillery.
By 1835, it was one of almost 30 working distilleries in Campbeltown, during the period when the small Kintyre town became famous as the “Whisky Capital of the World”.
Although most of Campbeltown’s distilleries eventually disappeared, Glen Scotia survived and remains one of the historic producers carrying the region’s whisky tradition into the present day.
The distillery still retains many features dating from the 1830s, including its traditional mash tun, stillroom and dunnage warehouse.
A True Campbeltown Distillery
Located on High Street in Campbeltown on Scotland’s Kintyre Peninsula, Glen Scotia is one of Scotland’s smaller whisky distilleries.
The distillery produces both peated and unpeated styles and continues to use traditional methods alongside long fermentation and careful distillation to create its distinctive spirit.
Campbeltown’s coastal location has long been associated with whiskies showing a combination of maritime character, fruit, sweetness, oiliness and spice – characteristics displayed beautifully in Glen Scotia 12 Year Old.
A New Heart of the Glen Scotia Range
Introduced into Glen Scotia’s refreshed core range in 2025, the 12 Year Old has become a central expression for the distillery.
Its packaging also draws directly on Glen Scotia’s Campbeltown home: the distinctive blue is inspired by the distillery’s famous dunnage warehouse doors, while the white reflects the historic distillery walls.
