In the closing months of 2024, Royal Brackla unveiled a truly remarkable expression in its prestigious line-up — the Exceptional Cask 24 Year Old. Limited to just 396 individually numbered bottles, this rare single malt is a testament to the distillery’s commitment to craftsmanship and tradition.
Distilled in October 1999, the spirit began its maturation journey in a refill hogshead, allowing the delicate character of the distillate to develop with subtle grace. In 2014, the whisky was re-casked into a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt, a move that profoundly influenced its profile over the following decade. The result is a cask-strength single malt, bottled at a robust yet elegant 51.8% ABV, showcasing a rich interplay of flavours shaped by time and wood.
On the nose, the whisky opens with a depth of warm Oloroso spice, seamlessly woven with notes of polished oak and dried fruit. The palate follows with indulgent layers of velvety caramel, ripe cherries, and spiced nuts, all underpinned by a lingering sherry sweetness and a whisper of dark chocolate. The finish is long, warming, and exquisitely balanced, echoing the sophistication for which Royal Brackla is renowned.
Originally launched at Lotte Duty Free in Singapore’s Changi Airport, this rare bottling has since found its way into the hands of collectors and connoisseurs through Avolta’s World Duty Free stores at major UK airports, as well as selected duty-free locations across South Korea. A distinguished release from one of Scotland’s oldest and most storied distilleries, the Royal Brackla Exceptional Cask 24 Year Old is both a celebration of time and a collector’s treasure.
